INSIDE LINEBACKER

Inside Linebacker is probably one of the most comprehensive positions in football. Most people think that football is just "Hike!" and go get the ball carrier, but its all alot more than that.We are the leaders of the defense and must do what ever we can to stop the offense from scoring. In order to stop the offense we must study them and see what plays they like to run at certain situations. also, what formations they are mostly likely to run or pass in. Now when playing Inside Linebacker there are reads we must take. We must watch the O-Line and get certain reads from them. The way they're standing, leaning, how much weight is applied on the hand thats down, if they're lookin in a certain direction, or anything different from what they did previously. all these can help us Inside Linebackers with the play. Once figuring out what the play is, we have to fit to our areas after the balls snapped. Most of the action goes on in what we call "The Trenches". Insides have to take on O-Linemen who are usally bigger and stronger then them. So they have to use thier speed and footwork to get around them. All in all, Inside is a very complicated position. Inside Linebacker have to be smart when playing. It's just like going to school and studying for the test.
